CLUTTER-FREE

If you’re a realtor or Stager, you know decluttering is a relative term. It means different things to different people, so it is important to be clear and specific when addressing this topic. The good news is, once you’ve decluttered, you are 60% of the way Staged, so don’t overlook it! Here are some of our go-to tips when guiding our client’s through the process of becoming clutter-free:

  • Less is more. If you are not sure if you need it for decor purposes or functionality purposes, then you probably don’t.

  • De-personalize by removing all religious items, family pictures, and sports memorabilia. Remember, our goal is to neutralize for potential buyers.

  • Make 2 piles: to donate & to pre-pack. You have to pack anyway, so get ahead of the game!

  • Keep closet and pantry floors bare to promote the idea of more storage space. You should see the floor.

  • Clear off front porches and back patios of any extra items including toys, pet items, extra furniture, gardening tools, etc.

  • Remove all bath mats and kitchen throw rugs to keep floors bare in bathrooms and kitchens.

  • Remove all kitchen hand towels.

  • Clear off counter tops of all items, then start fresh by adding back in a few purposeful items to Stage.
